New City Manager Appointed by the City Commission

The City Commissioners have appointed Branden John Dross to be the next City Manager of the City of Herington.  The appointment was announced by the City Commission at a special meeting held on September 11, 2020.

Mr. Dross previously worked with CPS Energy in San Antonio and before that in Terrell Hills, Texas, as the Assistant to the Director of Finance.  Prior to that, Mr. Dross served San Antonio, Texas as a Code Compliance and Historical Building Enforcement Officer.  Mr. Dross has also completed and obtained his Master of Public Administration with a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership and Management and his Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration with a minor in Political Science, both from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

After extensive resume screening, reference interviews and background checks, Mr. Dross was selected from several qualified applicants for the position, and he earned a near unanimous support on a 4-1 vote of the governing body, with Commissioner Vance Donahue casting the dissenting vote.

The search for a new City Manager began in January after the resignation of former City Manager Matt Townsend from the position.  Mr. Dross will assume his new position and immediately begin his duties on September 14, 2020.
