2022 Chip and Seal Project Update

The chip and seal work has been completed!

We will be going through with the street sweeper on rock and debris clean-up today and tomorrow.

The chip and seal project was to prolong the streets that have been paved mainly within the last 4-8 years. Dickinson County was able to assist us with materials and labor at cost, instead of contracting out the work. According to the 2019 (revised in 2021) street assessment map we try to do a mix of resurfacing and chip and seal projects. Resurfacing is a very costly and we felt the best use of this year's tax dollars would be better served to prolong the lifespan. The cost of street materials is up over 35% over the past twenty-four months.

Over the past two years, we have had some expansive street paving projects and have another one lined up by the end of the year. We also have over $200,000 in next years proposed budget to resurface streets in the City.

Thank you all for your patience on parking issues.

Thank you to Dickinson County staff for their assistance in providing the labor and materials for this project!
